tasted as though it had already gone through the kidneys of at least

Root beer? I vaguely remember McDonalds selling that something like
20 years ago (I ordered it once by mistake hoping it would be ginger
beer, or at least similar), but I haven't seen it in any McDs that
I've visited for a very long time.
