Hi Dave,
If the hydraulics don't work without any visible leak or loss of fluid, the
fault has to lie with the master cylinder. Having said that, it's foolish to
rebuild one cylinder without the other. The currently "good" seals will have
been exposed to fluid contaminated by the "bad" seals. Change one end and
you will almost certainly be rebuilding the other end within 12 months. This
becomes rhetorical, with one end or the other being rebuilt as an annual
tradition. Rebuild both ends of the system for peace of mind, don't forget
to thoroughly flush the pipes before fitting the rebuilt cylinders.
