Many other manufacturers use an iron upper manifold, with a tubular
lower manifold, without incident or problem. I've got & had several,
Toyota and Fiat for example.
The difference between the ones that work, and the Triumph one is that
the tubular lower manifold has a short pipe section that extends up into
the iron manifold, protecting the exhaust gasket from being burned by
the passing exhaust gasses.
It should be a simple matter to have a bit if pipe welded to the lower
tubular manifold. Then you should have no problems with gasket
failure.
