The 76 1500 I have has electronic ignition in it. I'm pretty sure I've
got the timing right but the car just won't run on petrol. I moved the
timing mark on the main pulley to 10 BTDC and lined up the little red
mark on the rotor shaft with the arrow on the Hall Effect sensor. I
know I'm not using correct terminology but hopefully someone will be
able to translate for me. :)
The car has a Weber DGV and I've set it following this guide:
http://www.mgbexperience.com/reference/3236dgev.html
The adjustable bits varied only slightly:
Idle jets of .60 and .50
Main jets of 140 and 135
Air correction of 165 and 160
Fresh plugs that are correctly gapped. Gapping is almost foreign to me.
The last time I gapped a plug was for a lawn mower when I was in grade
school. Rotaries don't get gapped as they have a four ground electrodes
on the same plane as the center electrode. I did breath a sigh of
relief when I opened the distributor and didn't see points though. :)
What more should I look at?
