  No need to worry, in this rather odd isle we work on both metric and
  imperial... I went in to a wood shop when I was younger, needed some wood
  for a school project - the guy took looked at me odd when I said I wanted
  it in milimeters... jokingly he said that they don't do wood in
  milimeters... and since I've had my Spit - I certainly know what an 1/8th
  is... though all those fractions do my head in sometimes...

  Anyway, back to the point, there are 4 holes - a diagram:

  So, yes, about 3" I'd say.... though that might be fluke...
