When I had a small collision a couple of years back that dented my front
bumper, TRGB advised me that a re-chromed old bumper tended to be better
than a brand new bumper - thicker metal and thicker chrome plate.  I vaguely
recall hearing that elsewhere too.  So that's what I went with.

Having said that, the bumper TRGB fitted started to get rust spots coming
through pretty soon, and now the bumper looks far from good - but that could
be just down to my serious lack of cleaning and polishing, and the car
standing out in all the British climate can throw at it year-round.

So... I probably haven't really helped with any conclusive advice either
way.  But I have helped plant a seed of doubt that whatever you do will be
wrong.  Sorry about that!
