I really doubt that chopping up the harness to add more fuses will make your
car more reliable or safe. You will have more electrical connections to fail,
and more pits and pieces that could break or get shorted out.
A single fuse for all the headlights is a bad idea, because if it breaks,
you could be suddenly plunged into darkness.
The best way to increase the reliability of your electrical system would
be to carefully inspect it and repair any cracked or corroded connectors,
frayed wires, etc. Also, remember that a fuse carrying close to it rated
load will eventually fail. It is not a bad idea to replace all the fuses every
couple of years with quality, brand-name ones.
I have considered adding a single master fusible link or extra-big fuse for the
entire
electrical system (except for the starter, of course). But I am hesitant to do
this until I can find the right parts that allow it to be truly reliable and
not especially
ugly or un-original-looking.
