Can someone give me a recommendation for needles for my Spitfire? Its a
rebuilt 1296cc with dual HS2 carbs, K&N airfilters, 4 into 1 header, free
flowing exhaust, slightly shaved head, and moderate camshaft upgrade. The
carbs were originally form a 1147 engine. I replaced the 1147 needles with
ones listed for a 1296 but it ran like crap. If I made it so it idled well,
it ran like crap when driving (improved if choke was pulled out). If I
adjusted it so it ran well while driving it wouldn't idle. I put the
needles in a drill press and changed the taper with emery cloth. It
actually runs pretty well, but I think it could be better. This was about
three years ago. Also I live at 4500 ft elevation.
