Gary,
I'm sure this is a form of virus among Spitfires! I'm trying to get the
doors to fit again after a body off restoration. They fitted fine while on
the tub when painting it, but bolted back to the frame - too large a gap at
the front, too small at the back. In this case I'm wondering if I can
remove one of the shims (either the aluminum or rubber one) from under the
front mounts. That should drop the front a bit.
In your case, I'd suggest you'll have to loosen all the body mount bolts and
twist the tub on the frame a bit. I've heard of this problem before - but
haven't tried to fit my own bonnet yet, so can't say if I'll have the
problem.
cheers, Fred
