Martin, Oil coolers are a mixed blessing. In very hot climates they do
a lot of good because they (unlike fans) help reduce the internal
temperature if the oil passages of the engine.
But you have to be careful with oil coolers in cooler temperatures. It
may not allow your oil to reach proper operating temperatures and
therefore lead to premature engine wear. If you add an oil cooler it is
a good idea to get or make some sort of cover that will block it off for
use when the temperatures go down.
I have both a secondary pusher fan and an oil cooler mounted on Huxley
but I am in Arizona!
