Hi Gary,
I'm also in the process of putting an original Smiths electronic tach
into a wiring harness from a MK IV, and had to wire up a tach supply. What
colour wire did you tap into?
According to my diagrams, the supply should come from a green wire tapped of
the power side of the voltage stabilizer on some models, or off the two
speed wiper motor on RHD models.
Any help?
Cheers, Fred

just recently wired it in and since the original was a mechanical tach I
just found a "hot"

going to the coil. any ideas? My fuel gauge also reads the same no matter
the amount of fuel ( about an eighth ), is it possible I have it wired
incorrectly? if I got the two wires at the guage mixed up would it still
register?
