Hello all,
Yesterday was such a beautiful day, that I had to take the time to
check out and start the Spit and the Stag for the first time since
last November.
First, I had to take care of the flat tires. The Spit left rear was
actually pulled away from the inside of the rim, so it had to come
off the car to be inflated. The Stag was easier, it just had to have
air in the left front. (I think that they are leaking in sympathy
for each other).
I then checked the fluids on the Stag as there is a fresh pool of
some kind of fluid under the car. Everything was fine except the
power steering, so I added fluid. Tightened the knob for the battery
disconnect, and tried to hop in. Forgot the fine art of gracefully
getting into and out of sports car over the winter. Finally climbed
in and pulled on the choke. Turned over with no problems, and caught
quite quickly. Cleared the stuff from in front of the car and pulled
the Stag out to let it warm up.
I then turned my attention to the Spit. After removing the tire and
getting it filled and replaced, I tried to start it. No joy. The
battery was low. After about 2 minutes on the charger, the Spit
started right up. Let it warm up.
Took the Stag for a quick spin, and everything seems to be working.
I need to adjust the choke idle as it is set quite high, and the
normal idle seems to be a little low as the car wants to stall when
accelerating in second gear.
Cheers,
Doug
