Greetings, all!
I haven't had much to share with the lists lately, so here is the latest.
It's been mostly sunny and in the mid 60's in Minnesota this weekend. The
Spit started easily and ran well in 2 outings. My wife decided her bad back
was feeling good enough to make it through an hour in the passenger seat.
I've started to disassemble the spare rear suspension assemblies in
preparation for rebuilding. The brake drum screws came out easily. The
trunnion bolt slid out with finger pressure only. I'm not sure which LBC
god I've managed to please, but I'll take it!
So now the questions: I'm putting in new axles, u-joints, wheel bearings,
trunnion bushes, and the rubber seals on the back of the wheel cylinders.
The car had rear brakes a couple thousand miles ago, and I'm planning to use
the wheel cylinders, shoes, adjusters and springs off the current
assemblies. Is there anything bad that I should look for on the trunnions
or hubs? Also, the Bentley book lists a few special tools. Besides a hub
puller, are any of them mandatory? Any other tricks & tips I should know
about? TIA, as always.
