It's actually not a brace. It's designed to catch on a bracket
on the firewall in case of a head on accident to prevent the bonnet
from driving backwards into the passenger compartment. Without the
bracket, you really have no reason to keep the brace.
I don't know what size battery Triumph originally used in the later
models. I do know that a lot of people buy a smaller size battery
than 'The Book' says to avoid contact with the brace.
