Looking for some suggestions on best way to proceed.

I renewed the heater control valve because the second-hand one I purchased had
a persistent leak between the top and bottom halves that I was unable to
defeat. Unfortunately, the brass mounting block that attaches to the support
plate is no longer available, so I had to reuse the one I had, and now I have
a leak between the brass block and the heater valve. There is an old seal
inside the block surrounding the outlet tube and I'm wondering what would be
the best material to replace this with to form a pressure-resistant and water
tight seal between the brass mounting block and the valve itself. Thank you.
