All,
Okay, so I have my new transmission, trick piece from ReK racing that uses
hewland internals. However it uses an early non-syncro output shaft which is
only a 10 spline output shaft compared to the output shaft on my old gearbox
which was a 4 syncro 3 rail from the Mk IV. The problem I have is that I'm
using the strap-type drive shaft and it appears as though the bolt patterns
for the output flange of the early transmission is different than that of the
later 3 rails, hence I know have a driveshaft that doesn't bolt up to my new
transmission. Does this seem correct? I had thought all the drives shafts
were interchangeable between the different models of non-overdrive
transmissions.
It really doesn't make sense.
Anyone have any ideas.
