Spitlisters:
I am in the process of adding a roll bar to my Spitfire. Presently I have
the MK3 convertible frame that folds behind the seats (and am not very
happy with it for various reasons). To fit the roll bar I intend to
replace this with the earlier MK1/2 removeable system, which I still have
from a previously owned project car. This will have the added benefit of
saving my seats, which presently rub against the frame and are about to
develop a couple of nasty tears.
I believe that have everything I need except the anchors points on the tub
for the convertible top frame. These are the tube-thingummies that the
frames slots into, adjacent to the doors. I believe they are spot welded
to the tub.
I am looking for someone with a MK1/2 tub that is toast - who is willing to
remove a pair of these (reasonably carefully) and sell them to me. I
suppose I could fabricate something but would rather avoid this hassle if
possible.
Also - if anyone has a better idea to achieve the end objective I'm open to
suggestions.
Once this is complete - I will have a complete MK3 convertible top frame
(with a top that is in poor shape) available for who might want to attempt
the reverse conversion.
Cheers
Mark
