Assuming you want to mount the voltmeter somewhere around the dash.....

Look for one of those wires hanging down doing nothing under the dash that has
electicians tape on it. Ground the voltmeter and give the hot wire a twist
around the brass from the dash wire. Turn the switch on and see if the needle
moves. If it is a wire you want, then go ahead and fasten it correctly.

IF IF IF you have a Spit without an extra wire handing around doing nothing,
you could tap into a hot wire that feeds a switch for an accessory. Like maybe
the Windscreen wiper. It's off over there and fairly easy to get to. Again,
check your wire carefully before you hook it all up. You don't want a voltmeter
that only works with the wipers on. :-) Don't hook into the light switch wires
or the voltmeter will run all the time. You want something that shuts off with
the key.
