Hi Doug, 
I'll be finding out about the Lansing British Car Club soon - I went in for an 
oil change and stumbled on to a kid who works at a Valvoline Instant Oil change 
place who drove an MG.  He said they meet every other week or so at a 
restaurant in town, but I have to make a phone call to get the details.  When I 
do, I'll post the arrangements if I can. 
Re. #1 - Hazard lights do work, so it's not the integrated turn signal/flasher 
unit.  I've gone around and checked each of the bulbs that are supposed to be 
on that circuit and they 'seem' fine - haven't checked them individually with 
any kind of power supply though...I should do that. 
Re. #2 - yes, the lens is clean and clear, I swapped left and right bulbs and 
looked at them without the lens on - it's just glowing dimmer than the other 
side regardless of which bulb is in place.  If I have a bad ground that's 
contributing to this and #1, would this be telling me something? 
Re. #3 - when I touch, jiggle the relay on the firewall she'll come to life.  
Sometimes I can even rap the underside edge of the instrument fascia and that 
might work, but it will always start if I fiddle with the relay. I think I just 
need to disassemble that unit and make sure all the connections are clean and 
tight...stuff like that's easy to do at the apartment complex - it's when you 
have things tore apart for days on end that they tend to get grumpy.  

When a lady at the McDonald's parking lot watched me go though this start up 
routine, I turned smiled and said - "...anti theft device"  :)

Thanks for the suggestions - I should have mentioned in my original post what 
I've done already.

Actually, there is a lister even closer, in Howell. There is
a British club in Lansing, but I don't have any info on it.

Problem 1. Do the hazard lights work? If so, could be the
flasher for the signals.

2. Simple things first, have you taken out the bulb and
cleaned it and the lens/reflector? Also, you may have a
bad ground.

3. Jiggle the solenoid? Or the switch? Could be bad connections
on the solenoid, could be bad connections at the starter
or a bad ignition switch.
