Hi listers!
My 11 year old daughter and I had a great drive from the Seattle area and
back yesterday. I had never cruised at 70 mph for extended periods before.
And boy is my forehead sunburned.
Anyway - Friday afternoon I noticed that it was very difficult to shift in
to second gear and the car wanted to pop out of second gear. Thinking about
it, I realize that it has been pretty easy to grind second for a while. I
thought at first that it was lazy clutch work but I realize now that it is
much more.
My assumption is that I have lost a synchro or snap ring or similar. Does
this conclusion sound logical?
Assuming that, I have another transmission that I had purchased a while ago.
It is from a wreck with 30K miles. I think that my best option is just to
swap the two. Afaing - does that sound logical?
Finally - What is listers preference as to how to do this - Transmission
only or transmission and engine out together? It almost looks easier to
pull the engine.
Your wisdom is appreciated! (This is a 74 1500 without over drive. I
believe that the tranny might be newer, but am not certain.
Thanks
Ken St.John
