It was the two flat headed screws that retain the drum
on the car.
I initially tried to unscrew them this morning
(heated, PB blasted them etc.) but I continued to tear
the heads up until finally came to the conclusion that
since they had never been torn-up in the past (someone
must have changed the brakes atleast once in this
car's 26 years, right?), they held some sort of guide
plate on the inside of the drum. After all, the other
drums I've changed have always been held in place by
the wheel and studs.
Eventually, I just drilled them out.
My Haynes and workshop manuals are stowed away in
storage, so I was depending on my past experience with
2 other vehicles to get the job done.
Thanks for the help, everyone! Now for the bleeding
(thank god for mity-vac).
