>From experience, I would use a very gentle cleaner & soft brush for cleaning, 
then a good rinse & dry.  Lexol works really great to impart a shine 
afterwards.  As for the rain issue with it down, I prefer to go with the 
traditional approach.  Roll up the windows, & drive faster.
