Ok, I want to get something straight in my head because I'm starting to get
confused...

Here is a picture of a door that came from my spitfire:

Are we all talking about that bar (you can see it in the photo)  That adds
additional stiffness?  All of the Spitfires that I've parted out have had
these bars in the doors and that includes '77, '78, & '79
