My 76 did not have one, although it had everything else option wise. So not
surewhether it originally did have one, except that I picked one up for a
couple of $ because it had the wire cut off. That was an easy fix and with a
quick clean and a new bulb you'd never know. Wire and mount point was all there.

However, and please correct me if i am wrong. All 1500's had the maplight.
I don't know about the other models. I would presume at the least the same
is true of the Mark IV.

Maplights were, I believe, an optional extra. Your car should have one only
if the original owner specified they wanted one.
