Here's what I did:
1. Carefully remove the braces for the dash assembly without horribly
distorting them.
2. remove the old box with a chisel or spot weld drill (Take care not to
distort the area around the box)
3. Place the new box in the hole
4. I brazed mine in. There is not enough room at this point to use a spot
welded
5. Braze or weld the braces back in
6. prep and paint.
Time consuming but not terribly difficult.
