The rear wheel brake cylinders on my GT6 Mk3 (very late) need replacing -
they did not survive the removal of 30 year old corroded brake pipes and
bleed nipples. Apparently these parts are no longer available (they have a
bore of 7/8" which equals 22.225mm). The earlier GT6 Mk3 used the same
parts as the Spit 1500 (bore 0.7" = 17.78mm). My parts catalogue suggests
that as the 7/8" parts are no longer available then a pair from a British
Leyland Marina (surely one of the worst cars produced in the 70's anywhere
in the world) can be used. These are available at quite a reasonable price,
but I have no info what the bore diameter is - I believe it is somewhere
between the 2 types mentioned previously.
Can anyone tell me what the bore diameter of the Marina parts is?
Alternatively, could I use a spare set of Spit 1500 (0.7") cylinders that I
already have and what effect would this have on brake performance / pedal
effort?
Pat
