Hi, Chad.

Sounds to me like you have a little more to remove from the master
cylinder -- that concave metal receiver is the south-side of a piston
rod facing north.  You will have to pull that out (sometimes a
[strong] magnet will pull it, or you may have to resort to removing
the MC from the sheetmetal and tapping it open-end down on a wood
block to convince the thing to move.  (Correct me if I am wrong, but
if the picture is fig 5.3, then you have removed items 9, 10, 11, 12,
and are looking into the bore of 14 and seeing the end of items 13 and
7.  That whole string of stuff from 13 through 1 comes out of 14 as a
single piece which you will then disassemble.)

Then you can continue with the instructions as in Haynes.
