Something great happened yesterday - my accelerator cable broke! I was able
to jerry-rig it to get home. During my slow trip home, I began to wonder
if my throttle was getting full throw before the cable broke. Turns out,
the way the linkage was attached I was never even opening the second barrel
of my down-draft Weber. No wonder I seemed to lack power. I haven't ridden
in another spit since I was 12 so I had no real comparison.
After going to a couple of auto parts stores asking for anything that looked
like the cable, I ended up getting a cable at a bike shop. I installed the
new cable a couple of holes further up the linkage from where it had been.
What a difference! Now I hit the freeway at freeway speed. Who needs good
gas mileage when there's fun to be had.
