I've got that set up on mine, though the carbs are from an even earlier
Spitfire. I can't post you any pictures, but I can describe it.
The fuel line runs from the fuel pump up to the front carburetor. It then goes
across the air filters to the rear carburetor and ends. Normally the fuel line
would go forward on the fuel pump side, cross the front of the engine and enter
the front carburetor. In my case, I took it around back and it goes through
across the manifold (think that's where it's at right now). I wanted to avoid
the heat of the engine, but I probably made it worse by bringing it closer to
the
exhaust. Some day I may change this.
Throttle cable is the ZS one, adapted to fit with a metal bracket on the
manifold, and a tab on the linkage. The cable comes straight down. Not the
best, but it works. Pedal travel can be adjusted by how I position the tab on
the linkage shaft.
Choke cable is just a spare GT6 one I had that's clamped on with a nut, bolt,
and
two washers. Again, it works.
Obviously mine would never pass the Paul T school of make it look damn good. :-)
I found a heat shield to be vital to making the engine run right. Mine is again
high tech. A $1 aluminum baking pan lashed under the carburetors with twisty
wire.
I also discovered that the after market fuel pumps do indeed put out too much
pressure, requiring an inline pressure regulator to get it down enough to work.
Think I'm running 2 pounds according to the selector.
As for wiring, yea, I've got some hanging down from various portions of my dash
as well. And that's with a map light that sometimes works. :-)
What are you calling a hood? The convertible top you sit under, or the bonnet
(british speak) that goes over the engine? If it's the convertible top, my new
one also cost half that. If it's the engine bonnet, they were going for as low
as $10 last month at the car show, highest being $100 I think.
