No Len . Maybe my previous message misled you :-) I have not done it , nor
am I contemplating on doing it ( I prefer to keep my Triumphs as original as
possible ) . But OTOH if it could be done ( I'm not sure if it could ) , and
you don't worry too much about originality , it would look rather nice me
thinks .

Are you suggesting putting real wood veneer on metal? If so, will you not
have trouble with expansion and contraction of the wood?
I make no claims to be a wood working expert, but I would expect this to be
