And that's precisely why it carries the load of the body/frame. if you
really look at the design, the entire weight IS carried by the diff by its
mounting on the frame - It's transferred through the diff, into the spring,
going out to the eye bolt, through the upright, its hub and the wheel.
It's not "supported" from below as one usually thinks a spring of this type
is mounted, but rather hangs from the spring and works in reverse of most
leaf spring designs - but the weight of the rear end of the body and frame
is entirely supported through the differential.  That's where the spring is
mounted, and that's where the weight is transferred -
