You can easily check the transmitter as follows:
The resistance of a working sender
is:
COLD: 1000 ohms
HOT: 50 ohms
Measurements were taken with the sender wire disconnected, terminal to
block, with a digital VOM.
If you get a constant 12V at the transmitter wire, the voltage stabilizer
is bad. (Also your gas gauge will read high at the same time) The voltage
should pulse at the transmitter when connected.
