Not sure about you guys. I bought my Spit this spring for $1,750, a 1963 MK1
from the original owner. Body is good. no rust, a few minor dents and not
original color, all else is in great shape, some cleaning and normal
maintenance things, I hope to have the body stripped this winter and painted
back to the original Red color.

I think Spit value is slightly lower in Wisconsin than in other parts
though.....

Fred,

I'm shocked, absolutely shocked !! Isn't that what we're here for ? To
invest countless hours and dollars into a 'hobby'?? I know I can't wait to
strap on that tool belt and have at it !! (VBG)

Really, you're right, the best bet is let someone else do the work and then
buy the car. No way you can ever get anything near your money back. There
was a TV show, on A&E, I think, about some huge, invitation only, car show
up in Monterey. Some of the people spent over $300K restoring their cars,
the cars were gorgeous, and worth much less than half what they had in them.
A friend is selling a '29 Ford rod for $35k, he has double that in it. He
has changed hobbies from cars to airplanes, talk about a money consuming
hobby !!

I kinda like doing the work, at least on my own car. Hey, it's either spend
money on cars or wild and crazy women. And at my age and physical ability, I
would have to spend a LOT of money on the women !!
