I mentioned those ideas mainly because this was the way we did things in the
shop, I guess we were lucky, we never had a dowel get stuck or trimmed off
too much, but the guys who were teaching me were great at what they did. I
know exactly what you mean by someone feeling if 220 is good then 150 is
better so 80 must be great (have seen this theory in action). The senior
carpenters and senior cabinetmakers showed me how to use a router to trim the
veneer, I'm going to ask them what the name of the bit they were using, it
might be useful one of these days.
