It's sort of funny that trunk restoration has come up. The last Triumphest I
went to, that was where I got points taken off! (I guess I should have been
happy with 98 out of 100!)
I thought it was because my spare tire cover-so kindly provided by Brad Kahler,
wasn't as pristine as the others-whose car look as if they're never driven, let
alone on a daily basis. But Dave said he thinks it's because I don't have the
trunk carpet or mat-I just have a black mat similar to the one it originally
came with. That the judges are so used to seeing the trunks that have the nice
carpet matting that when they get to mine, they've forgotten that mine is more
the original.
So. Now the big question is...do I do the trunk? And how practical is that in a
car like mine that is a daily, one and only driver? (I did get a new tire cover
made-but I doubt I'll used it for other than shows.)
In the bottom of my trunk, there is actual structure visible-all painted
nicely-but in my other two spits it was the same. If I remove the mat to put in
a nice carpetted sort of matting, how can I get it to lay flat? Do I need to do
something with plywood to get an even, flat floor? And is it worth it?
