Joe,
I just went through this with a local, somewhat trustworthy radiator shop.
And the best way to explain it is, that the reason you use "radiator paint"
is not because it will hold up to high temps. It is because it has the
ability to let heat transfer out, and not act as an insulator. The only spot
you need to worry about using it is on the actual "fins". The surrounding cap
can be painted with something more appealing to the eye.
