Very odd. I just recenty had a set tubes fitted for the Michelin radials
that are now mounted to my wire wheels. The operation was peformed by a
very knowledgable shop. Not only that, but radial tires were an option for
the wire wheels when the cars were first being sold -- obviously they would
have required tubes. I think the guy you spoke with was full of hooey.
