sounds like you have more than one problem. First the O-ring which seals
the metering needle into the slide valve needs to be replaced. This O-Ring
prevents the dashpot oil from leaking out. If it leaks out, the engine will
flood as soon as you touch the accelerator pedal. Second, check your
float levels. Be sure that the float level is such that the fuel shuts off
when the bowl is full. If this does not happen, the engine will flood. You
may also see raw fuel pouring out the carb during idle.
My suggestion is to get the ZS rebuild kit and rebuild the carb. It is not
that difficult.
