I did this the other way around - I used MKIII front springs in the front
of my 77 1500 chassis - the 1500 springs are WAY longer - that was how they
raised the front of the car to meet U.S. bumper height regulations! With
the MKIII springs the front of my car is back down where it belongs, and
still rides decently. Handling was vastly improved. I would say they
lowered the front by a good 1.5", maybe a full 2".
