Pat,

I looked into this because my steering column needs replacing.  It doesn't seem
impossible, butI decided to let the pros do it anyway.  There are a couple of
bolts which are designed to shear off when you undo them, the idea being that
the would-be theif can't undo them, wreck the steering lock, then put them back
again.  Plus, the steering column is colapsible, so that in a crash the impact
on the driver's head is reduced, so you have to tighten the clamps up just the
right amount.  I though I could probably do it, but didn't want to take a
chance.

If you do decide to DIY, though, good luck and let us know how you get on!  (I'm
sure there are people on the list who've done it and will be able to advise....)

Hi All

    Has anyone had the displeasure of disassembling the steering column
shaft that has the steering lock on it?

I probably need to remove the top or bottom rubber shaft holder.

Any know tricks before I attempt it, seems one of the nylon bushing
slipped out and the shaft is wobbly
