I am so sorry about your experience, David! I had the same sort of
thing happen to my first Spit when I parked it outside behind my
apartment in a gravel parking lot. There were trees nearby, and a
wooden fence surrounding it, so I thought it was pretty well protected.
But I came out to take it to work one morning, and there was a deep dent
that looked exactly like it was made with the ball end of a ball peen
hammer, on the bonnet edge right in front of the driver (where the
bonnet closes against the metal piece the windshield wipers mount to).
There was a bottle rocket stick lying across the bonnet nearby, but no
burn or other marks, and I did not think it was caused by that by any
means. I never did figure it out, and still wonder about that.
At least nothing was stolen! I hope you are able to fix it okay, and
solve your mystery! Good luck!
Keep Triumphing,
Susan :)
