Hello everyone;
After 4+ years of her setting idle, and 8 months of taking her apart and
then putting her all back together again (with NO parts left over!) I was
ready to "turn the key". Well, there was a lot of cranking, a few
"explosions", and then some huge clouds of black soot emanated from the tail
pipe. OK, so it sounded like a timing problem. I hit the books and
calculated that the timing seemed to be 180 degrees out of phase. So, I
pulled the distributor, spun the shaft 180 degrees, and reinstalled it.
Then with just a slight flick of the key she roared back to life! WOW, sure
sounded great! She's not ready to be driven yet because I still have some
front brake work to do, some tuning, and then there's that emissions testing
thing.
