Greetings all,
A while back I asked for information concerning the USA specs on engine
breathing and valve cover to carb setup. I didn't get much response, so I
purchase a factory parts manual for the MK1-2 Spitfires.
Here is the answer: USA and Canadian vehicles were very different from other
countries even in 62 and 63. The photos we see in restoration guides
magazine articles and ads were not showing USA specs. Up to engine FC50000E
the engine breather pipe was not used, and the valve cover was vented to the
carbs by way "Y piece with support bracket." A hose from the valve cover
connected to the Y, which in turn connected to the air filters. The valve
cover did not have breather type cap as the Heralds and UK type spits.

Is there anyone out there willing to trade MK IV or 1500 parts for Mk1-2
parts?

Thanks,
Bill Brockschmidt
Springfield, IL
