You mean 'captive nuts'.

When I found a rust free hardtop for my Mk2, one of the previous owners had
(apart from glue pink shagpile carpet in as headlining) 'removed' the said
items and brazed in two studs - ideal for scratching and denting the ally
capping on the windscreen frame. I cut out the captive nuts and retainers
from a different top from my 'collection' of rusty hardtops and welded them
in having removed the 'individual' headlining.
