Scott, I have been driving a Spit with a Weber DGAV and a Header for almost
two years here in Florida and have never had a problem with heat affecting
anything. I would not worry about it.

Subject: re: heat troubles?
Hi Gang. Hobbs is a 77 Spit which the PO appeared to keep pretty much
stock,
w/ stock exhaust manifold & single Stromberg. It didn't have a heat shield
from what I could see. I've currently got him in the shop having a header
and Weber downdraft on a Cannon intake installed. Heat is definitely a
problem in Phoenix.
Forgive my obvious stupidity, but will I need a heat shield for the Weber?
I
checked VB, Moss & Spitbits catalogs and can't find a picture of how or
where
a heat shield bolts onto the engine (assuming it bolts onto the block).
Followed Ed & Paul's advice re: www.sumidel.com but still can't picture how
any of their products would fit onto the engine. Any suggestions? (Or
should I just ask my mechanic, who's not a Triumph expert but is a whiz at
fixing anything automotive).
Thanks!
Scott (& Hobbs, 77 Spit, daily driver)
