Anyone want to try to help Philip with this problem? Make sure to at least
copy him in your reply.

Dear VTR_

Thank you, first of all, for the wealth of knowledge that your site has
provided me over the last couple of years. Now, I finally have a problem
worth asking you. My Spitfire Mk2 is behaving strangely. If I have to sit
at a light for any length of time over about two or three minutes, when I
finally put it in gear and go, the car has this aweful hesitation every two
or three seconds, I mean a BIG hesitaion, and when I really step on the gas,
it backfires and a huge cloud of very black smoke shoots out of the tailpipe.
It frustrating, because I know it's probably a tune-up thing, but tuning up
requires a lot of idling, which makes it impossible to adjust! I'm trying to
sell the car and there's a guy that's going to look at it this week, but I
want it running properly before I pass it on to someone else. Please Help!!!!

Thanks again.
