Speedo works, but odometer doesn't

I replaced the speedometer in my 72 with one that came in the box of
parts I got with the car - it matches the tach better. The speed
indicator is fine, but neither the regular or trip odometers turn. Is
this something that can be fixed, or not worth the chance of damaging
the rest of it?
