Hi all - I'm going to look at a '79 spit with O/D tomorrow. The owner
sayd the O/D is intermittent - sometimes it engages and sometimes it
doesn't. He says it is almost certainly a solenoid. He says he has the
solenoid, he just hasn't installed it yet.
1. Is there an easy way to troubleshoot this on the spot?
2. Is this a common problem, or am I likely getting into something
major?
3. If it is the solenoid, can this be changed with the gearbox still in
the car?
