I'm in the process of putting the engine for my '78 Spit back together
after rebuilding it. It's been a long slow process (I blew the engine
3 years ago during my move to Knoxville) - too much of my day job, and
not enough spending money.
Anyhow, I'm ready to put the timing chain cover back on - I figured
my Bentley manual would give nice pictures of exactly where each
screw, bolt, nut and bracket go - oops! I should have taken a picture
before I took it apart.
It is not a simple matter of just trying to fit them back in
(at least not if you want them in the correct place.) There
are 5 or 6 bolts, 5 or 6 screws, a nut, and one or two brackets
for the alternator (I have two brackets, but I also bought a used
block since my old one was cracked and the second bracket may have
come from that second block)
Could anyone send me a picture or two(preferably electronic, but a
print would be quite accetable) of the front of their engine, paying
special attention to the right and left side of the timing cover.
I can't figure out where all the screws, bolts, nuts and the alternator
brackets go. I think I'm close on the bolts and screws, but not sure
about the alternator brackets. The lucas alternator was replaced with
a GM alternator on my Spit, so a picture with that mod would be
preferable to one with the lucas, but I would take either - I think
I can figure out the modification for the GM alternator.
Thanks,
