I'm using a single DCOE40 setup on my 1500, with a header and a mild
cam, which I am told is a good *practical* combination for the sort of
driving I'll be doing, mostly spirited street driving. (I haven't fired
it up yet so I don't have first hand feedback for you..)
I had a set of dual DCOE45's on a BMW 2002 a couple of years ago, with a
header and a big cam, flowed heads, the whole nine yards... It ran like
a banshee at wide open throttle at high revs but was "soft" around
town. (It came up onto the cam at about 4000 RPMs and it all got weird,
but under 4000 I was nowhere.) I had the carbs set up by an experienced
Weber guy, and the range of tunability is astounding, but in the end,
those four big holes made the intake velocity suffer at low revs.
I guess it all depends on what you plan to do with it, but for me I'm
going with a single. No dual balancing hassles, no linkage hassles,
plenty of power for my purposes.
